ICOC in Turkey 2007 |

ICOC in Turkey 2007 by Carol Mundy Having the ICOC in Turkey was a great decision! There was more to see than any of us had time for-even though some of us tried to see it all. The tours before and after the conference allowed visits to felt makers, rope weavers, Dobag villages, Capadocia, Chatal Hyuk, and how ever many rug shops one could manage. Our journey included a stop to see sheep, shepherd, dog and owner who thought our stopped bus meant we had hit one of his sheep. We had a great photo opportunity!
I was able to visit Turkey for the 11th ICOC (International Conference on Oriental Carpets). We spent time in Central Turkey visiting not-open-yet Vakiflar Museums-full of collected mosque carpets cleaned and mounted for viewing from as far back as the 16th C or older? and met the curators and restorers.
