About the Oriental Rug Retailers of America

A not for profit organization supporting Oriental Rug Retailers, Wholesalers, Importers and Service Companies.

ORRA, Inc. is a vibrant organization established in 1969 for retailers of oriental rugs.

ORRA was formed to bring high standards and ethical practices to a business fraught with itinerant sales and misinformation.  Over the years, ORRA has become known throughout the country as the organization to depend upon for reliable Oriental rug information.  ORRA has responded to thousands of inquiries from consumers and media.

ORRA developed the Certified Rug Appraiser Program.  This program certifies an appraiser of oriental rugs after an exacting examination consisting of both written and visual identification of a wide variety of rugs.  This program has been so successful that our CRA’s are accepted as experts by the banking and insurance industries in the U.S.A., and Canada, and by most, if not all, states.

In another area, we work closely with our members in the Consumer Protection Program.  We are in contact with most state attorney generals regarding the problem of fraudulent sales, Going-Out-of-Business-Sales, deceptive advertising practices, etc.

We publish our quarterly ORRA NEWS informing our members of the latest information on business, new members, interesting articles and activities at the conventions and market trends and various updates.  Our Consumer Education inserts allow our members to offer the public a variety of informational pieces in an economical format.

ORRA, INC. maintains a web site on the internet.  Our site includes informative articles for consumers and retailers.  All ORRA members are listed.

We have available for purchase the “MYSTIQUE OF ORIENTAL RUGS” booklets.  This full color publication is an informative teaching aid, as well as a gift, for your customers.  The brochures are 100 count to the box at $100. per box, shipping is included.

The ORRA Annual Convention provides an opportunity to build valuable relationships with other members of our industry.  ORRA offers valuable employee training opportunities through our convention seminars.  Our speakers are nationally known experts.  We are proud to say many of our speakers are often ORRA members themselves.  ORRA Seminars include a variety of topics and are a unique opportunity to enrich your enjoyment of oriental rugs and empower your sales staff with persuasive selling techniques.
